Citizenship

Eligibility

Whether you are seeking citizenship by conferral or by descent, we can assist you in your journey. Once you attain citizenship, there will be no restrictions on working rights or re-entry rights. This is the final step towards naturalisation in Australia and we are more than happy to welcome you to our growing family.

Citizenship by Conferral Eligibility

  • been lawfully residing in Australia for at least 4 years, with the year prior to your citizenship application being of permanent resident status
  • have not spent more than 12 months outside of Australia in the past four years, including more than 90 days in the past year
  • fulfil health and character requirements
  • be of good character
  • sit and pass the Australian citizenship test (unless 60 and above)

Citizenship by Descent

This pathway is for people who were born outside of Australia and have Australian citizen parents to acquire citizenship.

  • the applicant will have to be of good character
  • must have evidence of identity
  • must have evidence of sufficient ties to citizenship

Considerations

You may be onshore or offshore when this application is made. However,  you will only be granted citizenship when you are onshore unless exceptions apply.

You will have unlimited working and study rights, therefore you will have no restrictions living in Australia.
